Amid tensions over U.S. President Donald Trump's threat to impose escalating tariffs on Mexican imports, Council of the Americas convened experts to discuss potential economic repercussions and dangers for the bilateral relationship.
These tariffs could jeopardize relations with an important U.S. economic partner while hurting American consumers.
"We are going down a path that requires essentially Mexico at a political level to react negatively," said AS/COA vice president about the U.S. - Mexico commercial relations.
The annual event at the State Department focused on disruption in the hemisphere and featured U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, and Salvadoran President-elect Nayib Bukele.
