The United States has worked under a laissez-faire approach to encourage others to fill a void in regional leadership toward Venezuela, points out AS/COA’s Eric Farnsworth.

The “end of the world” finally arrived, and it wasn’t pretty.

"The [Supreme Court] tried to get the legislature out of the mix...When they find their laws inconvenient, they just change them," says AS/COA's Eric Farnsworth.

"Despite a desire to improve relations with the United States, there is little likelihood that a Moreno government would break publicly with Caracas," comments AS/COA’s Eric Farnsworth.

Although Lenín Moreno's win is now official, his rival Guillermo Lasso is crying foul.
