Jorge Luis Montero is an economist and politician, currently serving as Minister of Energy and Mines since November 30, 2024. He previously served as Vice Minister of Mines (2020–2021), where he helped design Peru’s National Policy for Small-Scale and Artisanal Mining. In the private sector, he held leadership roles at Gold Fields’ Cerro Corona operation and Hochschild Mining’s Sumac Tarpuy Association.

She advises local and international companies on the application of Peruvian taxes, specializing in investment planning and business development in the energy, mining, public services, infrastructure, and public-private partnership sectors.

He is a director of Phoenix Global Resources and Refinor and has previously served as a director at Ketsal SA, Kilwer SA, Integra Oil & Gas SAS, and Grecoil SA, among other Argentine and international companies. He has also played a significant role in the energy sector, holding managerial positions at Edenor, Argentina’s largest electricity distributor, and Andina PLC.
