AS/COA Cookie and Tracking Technologies Notice

How www.as-coa.org uses cookies, analytics, embedded media, and privacy controls.

1. Scope

This Notice supplements the AS/COA Privacy Notice and applies to cookies and similar technologies used on www.as-coa.org. It reflects a privacy-minimizing design in which technologies that are not necessary to operate or secure the Site are disabled by default.

2. What These Technologies Are

Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, local storage, software development kits, scripts, and identifiers. They may operate a requested service, remember a preference, measure activity, display embedded media, or protect a form from abuse.

3. Categories Used by AS/COA

4. Technologies Used by AS/COA

Google Analytics 4

Vendor: Google LLC. Purpose: measure website traffic and content performance. Information may include an IP address, approximate location, browser and device information, referral information, pages viewed, timestamps, interaction events, and analytics identifiers. Google Analytics is disabled by default and may operate only after the visitor enables analytics through Cookie Preferences.

Google Tag Manager

Vendor: Google LLC. Purpose: manage approved website tags. Google Tag Manager may process technical request information and can cause configured tags to load. It may not activate a nonessential tag unless the visitor’s recorded choice permits that tag.

Vimeo and Simplecast

Purpose: provide optional video and audio players. These services may receive an IP address, browser and device information, referring page, interaction information, and identifiers when a visitor chooses to load the content. AS/COA uses a click-to-load or consent-controlled approach so the player does not load by default.

ShareThis

AS/COA uses ShareThis.

Hootsuite

AS/COA uses Hootsuite for sharing our content. It might be how someone would arrive at our website, though, and it connects with our metrics system.

Security and Anti-Abuse Technologies

AS/COA may use a security service such as Google reCAPTCHA on a form when reasonably necessary to prevent spam, bots, credential abuse, or automated attacks. The service may process technical and behavioral signals needed to evaluate abuse. AS/COA limits the service to forms where the security purpose is documented.

5. Technologies AS/COA Does Not Use

AS/COA does not use advertising, audience-profiling, or cross-context behavioral advertising technology.

6. Cookie Preferences

The cookie banner provides equally accessible choices to accept optional technologies, reject optional technologies, or manage individual categories. A persistent “Cookie Preferences” link allows a visitor to review or change a choice. A change applies prospectively and may be limited to the browser or device where it is made.

Rejecting optional technologies does not prevent access to the Site’s primary informational content. Optional analytics or embedded media may be unavailable until the relevant category is enabled.

7. Global Privacy Control

AS/COA recognizes supported Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals. When the Site receives a valid GPC signal, it applies the signal as an opt-out of any processing treated as sale, targeted advertising, or covered profiling for that browser or device before the relevant technology loads. Because AS/COA does not use advertising or profiling technologies, the signal ordinarily confirms the existing privacy-minimizing default.

GPC is an opt-out signal and does not provide affirmative consent for an optional technology. Selecting “Accept All” does not override a valid GPC opt-out for sale or targeted advertising. A different browser, profile, or device must send its own signal unless AS/COA can reliably associate the choice with an authenticated account.

8. Browser and Vendor Controls

Most browsers allow visitors to view, block, or delete cookies. Blocking every cookie may interfere with sign-in, forms, security, or saved privacy choices. A vendor may also offer its own privacy controls, but using a vendor control does not replace the choices available through AS/COA’s Cookie Preferences.

9. Retention and Review

Cookie duration depends on the technology and configuration. The Cookie Preferences interface identifies the cookies detected on the Site, their provider, purpose, category, and duration. AS/COA reviews the inventory when website code, Drupal modules, tag configurations, embedded media, or service providers change.

10. Changes to This Notice

AS/COA may update this Notice when its technologies, purposes, or legal obligations change. The revised Notice will display a new effective date.

Do not send passwords, full payment-card numbers, government identification, or other highly sensitive information by ordinary email. AS/COA may provide a secure method if additional information is needed to verify a request.
