Overview

This roundtable will convene a select group of private sector executives, experts, and government officials from throughout Latin America around a shared commitment to retrain the region’s workforce and close the existing skills gap. The program will share international best practices and serve as a call to action for information and communication technology companies to make their resources and training certifications available to new talent wishing to join the digital labor force. The conversation will be dynamic, and we encourage everyone to actively participate. This event is by invitation only and will be on the record.

Roundtable speakers:

  • Heather Conklin, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Trailhead, Salesforce
  • Reina Mejía, Executive Vice President, Inter-American Development Bank
  • Susan Segal, President and CEO, Americas Society/Council of the Americas
  • Nicolás Kaplun, Regional Managing Director of Latin America, Globant (moderator)

In preparation for the above AS/COA Tech Series roundtable, Balance Internet CEO James Horne spoke with Salesforce's Leandro Pérez about how the Skill Finder marketplace came about, how tech companies worked together to develop content on hard and soft skills, and why the platform was funded by the Australian government.

This conversation was recorded for AS/COA members as a case study presentation. Launched in October 2020, Skill Finder is a free marketplace offering over 2,200 digital courses in Australia. These training courses are led by the world’s leading technology companies and are available to anyone in Australia who wants to learn a new digital skill.
