En Casa: Entramado Duo

Wednesday, January 28, 10 am

Entramado Duo is a Venezuelan duo based in Caracas formed in 2018 by flutist Lorel Rodríguez and guitarist Yhony León. They made their debut at Teatro Trasnocho, during the popular Noches de Guataca. The duo explores the traditional music of their country, and have performed nationally and in Argentina, Belarus, and China.

From Carayca, not far from Caracas, they sent us this version of "Luna Del Capanaparo," a Venezuelan folk song composed by Guillermo Hernández. The piece describes the landscape of Venezuela's Apure state, specifically the Capanaparo River. It is traditionally performed with a bandola or harp, and the duo performs an arrangement by Yhony for flute, voice, and cuatro.

En Casa: Camila y Silvio

Thursday, January 29, 10 am

Camila and Silvio is a Chilean duo formed by Silvio Rozzi and Camila Soria. Their music is rooted in South American folklore, offering a contemporary interpretation of traditional genres from the Andean region. In 2019, they released their first album, En el borde de la noche, for which they were awarded Best Folk Music Artist at the 2020 Pulsar Awards, the most important recognition in the Chilean music industry. In 2023, they released Piedra Azul, which blends traditional Andean folklore and contemporary music, creating a bridge between traditional roots music and new generations. They have performed on various national stages and, since 2022, have performed in South Korea, England, Spain, and Latin America.

From Santiago, they sent us videos of songs included in Piedra Azul, an album that honors water and its journey through the world and through all life forms. Today we share "Malalcuna."

En Casa: Dangelo Guerra

Singer, folk poet, guitarist, guitarrón player, and accordionist Dangelo Guerra, originally from Santiago, is now based in Putú, about 200 miles south of the capital in the Maule Region. He has released two albums as a solo artist: Del canto hago mi vida (2013) and Por la senda de cantores (2017).

He sent us "Décimas improvisadas con guitarrón chileno," a poetic improvisation accompanying himself on the 25-string guitarrón chileno.
