Focused on Leonilson's production from the mid-1980s until his death in 1993, the exhibition is the first solo show in the United States of one of Brazil’s leading contemporary artists.
Erick Meyenberg: The wheel bears no resemblance to a leg at Americas Society is documented in an ominous 16-minute video, slickly edited to reflect on modern Mexican society as a machine powered by the mechanisms of the state.
Lavishly illustrated, and with essays and an interview with the artist, the book provides an in-depth introduction to the work of one of Mexico’s major emerging contemporary artists.
“The Mexican history embedded in [Erick Meyenberg’s] video is what gives this show real gravitas,” says the review of the exhibition, on view through July 29.
O catálogo bilíngue de pintor Leonilson será lançado no Americas Society de Nova York com uma exposição dos trabalhos do pintor.
The catalogue Told and Untold: The Photo Stories of Kati Horna in the Illustrated Press is an "unpretentious, yet exacting approach to [Horna's] considerable legacy", published in concert with an exhibition at Americas Society.
Publicação sobre o artista brasileiro Leonilson será lançada em uma mostra que abrirá na Americas Society em setembro.
