TAG Luncheon: What Comes Next for U.S. Trade Policy in the Western Hemisphere
Peter Harrell of Georgetown Law and Kellie Meiman Hock of McLarty spoke on the medium-term outlook for U.S. trade policy ahead of the midterm elections.
Overview
As Washington looks toward the midterm elections, Council of the Americas convened the latest discussion of its Trade Advisory Group series featuring Peter Harrell, visiting scholar at Georgetown Law’s Institute of International Economic Law and former White House senior director for international economics, and Kellie Meiman Hock, senior counselor at McLarty Associates and former USTR director for Brazil and the Southern Cone.
Moderated by AS/COA Vice President Amb. Kevin Sullivan, the October 20 conversation explored the medium-term outlook for U.S. trade policy. It also covered the growing role of economic security in new trade agreements, the changing legal landscape for tariffs, and what these shifts mean for regional integration, supply chains, and strategic competition across the Western Hemisphere.
