TAG Breakfast: Trade Policy with Deputy Assistant U.S. Trade Rep. Courtney Smothers
The trade official discussed the reciprocal trade agreements with Argentina, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Guatemala.
Overview
On October 27, COA’s Trade Advisory Group (TAG) welcomed Courtney Smothers, deputy assistant U.S. trade representative for Latin America, for a discussion in Washington on the Agreements on Reciprocal Trade and their implications for U.S. trade and commercial relations across the Americas.
Moderated by AS/COA Vice President Amb. Kevin Sullivan, the conversation examined the bilateral agreements with Argentina, Ecuador, El Salvador, and Guatemala. It also covered the status of their implementation, how economic security fits into the frameworks, and what lies ahead for trade relationships across the hemisphere. Kate Kalutkiewicz of McLarty Associates also contributed to the program.
