Overview

A recent World Economic Forum report estimates that it will take Latin America 69 years to close the gender gap. Women are not currently empowered to take advantage of the opportunities offered by digital transformation, and governments need to take action to narrow the gender gap, increasing the participation of women in the digital economy.

AS/COA hosted a strategic, by-invitation only virtual roundtable, as part of the AS/COA Tech Series. This roundtable brought together senior policy makers, academics, and private business leaders for a conversation around how inequality is not only a pressing social issue, but also an economic burden for the region.

The roundtable began with a keynote conversation between AS/COA’s Susan Segal and Mexico’s Economy Secretary Tatiana Clouthier, followed by a panel addressing policies for bridging the digital gender gap with Google’s Adriana Noreña, Fedesarrollo’s Martha Elena Delgado, and Mariana Ferreira of Argentina’s Ministry of Productive Development. The panel was moderated by Nacha Cattan from Bloomberg.
