Overview
Council of the Americas hosted a private, off-the-record private breakfast in Miami with Maria Luisa Hayem, minister of economy of El Salvador. During this session, she elaborated on El Salvador's investment priorities, its bilateral trade relationship with the United States, and her leadership in modernizing the country's economic strategy.
With over 20 years of experience in trade, financial inclusion, and economic development. Hayem began her career in 2003 as a counselor of the Permanent Mission of El Salvador to the World Trade Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. In 2019, she served as minister of economy, becoming a driving force attracting investments, boosting exports, promoting innovation, and creating jobs.
Following the briefing, attendees engaged directly with a distinguished delegation of top business leaders accompanying Minister Hayem. Representatives from major firms including Agrisal, Aristos Real Estate, Citibank, and Chevron shared firsthand perspectives on the opportunities and emerging trend defining El Salvador's evolving economy. The executives who were part of delegation included Eduardo Quiñónez, president of Agrisal; Rene Ramos, general manager of Aristos Real Estate; Ana Cristina Lopez, head of El Salvador for Citibank; and Alejandro Riveros, Corporate Affairs Manager of Colombia & Central America for Chevron.
