Overview

In the same way that an opera house's season is typically a mix of classic operas and new works, a Music of the Americas season is always a balance of popular traditional styles and, crucially, some of the new music that is constantly being created in the hemisphere. This class will give context for current trends in new music coming from Latin America and Canada, why it’s important, and how to appreciate it.

For those in New York, this class will be followed by the first of two concerts by the Momenta Quartet at 7 p.m.

The three classes in this Music Class series will be offered in a hybrid format via Zoom and in-person at 680 Park Ave. Following the classes, we'll hold an online-only discussion section.

All AS, PC, YPA, and COA members are invited to this series. Members can register by emailing Holly at membership@as-coa.org. AS members at the Friends & Family level and above may bring up to two guests.
