May 3: Secretary Blinken Addresses the 52nd Washington Conference on the Americas

The U.S. secretary of state joined a private luncheon, focusing on hemispheric priorities ahead of June's Summit of the Americas. Watch his remarks.

Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken delivered keynote remarks on May 3 at the 52nd Annual Washington Conference on the Americas Private Luncheon, co-hosted by the Council of the Americas and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs.

Titled “Building a Sustainable, Resilient, and Equitable Future,” this year’s conference highlights the Biden administration’s policy priorities in the Western Hemisphere just ahead of the Ninth Summit of the Americas, taking place in Los Angeles from June 6 to 10.

At the private luncheon on May 3, the Council of the Americas honored Organization of American States Secretary General Luis Almagro with the Chairman’s Award for Leadership in the Americas.

The luncheon will also feature remarks by U.S. Senator Bill Hagerty (R-TN) and will be followed by a virtual conference program on May 12, 2022.
