En Casa: Kinti

Tuesday, October 6, 10 am

Ecuadorian multi-instrumentalist Curi Cachimuel is back on En Casa with his duo Kinti, in which he is joined by cellist Rebecca Hartka. The duo takes its name from the Quechua word for hummingbird, qʼinti and, like its namesake, bridges North and South America. The duo has been performing throughout New England since 2021 with a unique sound rooted in the music of their Celtic and Andean Indigenous ancestors. Their debut album, released in 2025, features their original, partially improvised compositions created using looping techniques and inspired by the natural world.

They sent us this video of "Jatun mama," a tribute to women and their eternal struggle to make their rights visible within society. The piece recognizes our grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and daughters; their hands, faces, and bodies; and their lives enduring resistance, reflecting the strength and perseverance with which they seek better days.

En Casa: Vanessa García & Diego Calvo

Friday, October 9, 10 am

From San Salvador, Vanessa García and Diego Calvo are back with "No era amor," a song of "heartbreak that narrates the process of recognizing that a relationship marked by lies, uncertainty, and abandonment was not love, but a painful cycle from which it was necessary to escape. Between the regret of returning again and again and the decision to break with the memories, the song becomes a declaration of emotional independence and the certainty that, far away from that person, life will be better."
