Letter from the President: Support Our Mission in the Americas in 2020

By Susan Segal

Now more than ever, our work at Americas Society matters for all those interested in the current state of affairs in the Western Hemisphere, writes AS/COA President and CEO Susan Segal.

Dear friend,

We’d like to thank you for being a member of our extended community that remains committed to fostering an understanding of the issues facing the Americas today. Now more than ever, our work at Americas Society matters for all those interested in the current state of affairs in the Western Hemisphere.

At Americas Society, we strive to present engaging and thoughtful public policy programs that offer a unique platform for public and private exchange. Our magazine Americas Quarterly is a must-read for leaders and influencers throughout the region, bringing in-depth coverage on hot issues such as the regional fight against corruption and the relationship between China and Latin America.

And true to the spirit of our founder David Rockefeller, we believe that engaging with Latin America, the Caribbean, and Canada cannot be limited to politics and the economy; culture and the arts deepen the ties within the region. Our exhibitions, public programs, and concerts bring the best artists and performers to New York audiences. If you had the chance to see the work of Costa Rican feminist artists Victoria Cabezas and Priscilla Monge earlier this year in our gallery, dance with up-and-coming Cuban artist Cimafunk on his first U.S. tour, or attend Canadian composer Claude Vivier’s opera Kopernikus, you know firsthand how our programs enrich the cultural life of our city.

To put all this great work together, I count on the support of a great team of committed and talented professionals who are passionate about the region. Most importantly, none of this would be possible without the support we receive from generous people like you.

As we enter the year-end holiday season, I invite you to take a moment to show your support to Americas Society and become part of our community. If you have not yet, please consider making a tax-deductible contribution to the Americas Society, a 501(c)(3) organization.

You can also offer support by joining or renewing as a valued Americas Society member! If you are looking for an original gift for one of your loved ones, you may give them the gift of membership, which they can enjoy all year.

Thank you so very much for showing your support. I look forward to seeing you soon—and often!—at our policy and cultural programs.

Sincerely,

Susan L. Segal
