Chart: How U.S. Latinos Voted in the 2022 Midterm Election
Rumors that Latinos would swing strongly toward Republicans were unfounded except in one key state: Florida.

After the 2020 election, there were theories that Latinos, long considered a dependable Democratic voting bloc, were shifting Republicans.
But in the 2022 midterm results—in which it appears we’re seeing the lowest number of seats lost by the incumbent president’s party since 2006—the Latino vote stayed with the Democrats. Based on exit polls for the House of Representatives, 60 percent of Latinos backed Democrats while 39 percent voted for Republicans. That represented a slight gain for the GOP, but not enough to help foment a predicted red wave.
