Readers, here’s your agenda for this weekend...

I’m looking forward to a fun confluence next week. I’ve long been fascinated by the composer Claude Vivier, who died tragically in 1983 at just 34. (The story is not to be believed. Way weird.)

Performances of his work aren’t everyday events, but this Tuesday brings Ensemble Échappé doing the sensuous, otherworldly love song “Bouchara”; Wednesday and Thursday, Meridionalis (a choral project of Americas Society) and the International Contemporary Ensemble take on the abstract opera “Kopernikus.”...
