2012 Latin American Cities Conferences: São Paulo - Brazil's New Economic Scenario

AS/COA's August 16 conference in São Paulo will focus on the Brazilian economy and the opportunities and challenges to sustainable growth, innovation, and competitiveness.

New York, August 8, 2012 – Americas Society and Council of the Americas will host their São Paulo conference “Brazil's New Economic Scenario” in partnership with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency, Apex-Brasil, on Thursday, August 16, 2012 from 8:30 AM to 1:40 PM (webcast available.) The conference will focus on the Brazilian economy and the opportunities and challenges to sustainable growth, innovation, and competitiveness. Panels will include discussion about the Plano Brasil Maior, trade facilitation between Brazil and the United States, and eco-entrepreneurship.

“We are very pleased to be hosting the conference again this year,” says Americas Society/Council of the Americas President and CEO Susan Segal. The Brazilian government estimates the economy will grow at a rate of 4 percent in the second half of the year. According to figures released by the trade ministry, Brazil's trade surplus increased to $2.9 billion in July. Overall exports are expected to reach $264 billion in 2012.
