AS/COA Statement on the Coronavirus

Since our programming went fully online in March, we’re averaging 2,100 attendees at 10 events per week.

Statement from Susan Segal, president and CEO of AS/COA.

Dear Members and Friends,

During the current situation with COVID-19, our organizations have not only continued to provide our members with top-level conversations but also expanded our programmatic offerings. Since our programming went online in March, we’re averaging 2,100 attendees at 10 events per week. For every public event, we’re averaging two private, members-only programs. Videos for all our public events are available for viewing on our website.

We have continued our working groups and series digitally, as well as our signature programs, including Latin American Cities Conferences, the Washington Conference on the Americas, BRAVO Leadership Conversations, Presidents of the Americas, Women’s Hemispheric Network, as well as the CFO Roundtables. We are also offering virtual gallery tours, cultural panels, and concerts. Since March, we’ve launched three new virtual cultural initiatives: En Casa and Recuerdos (Music) and In the Studio (Visual Arts). Young Professionals of the Americas also launched a popular Gastrodiplomacy online cooking series.

We have worked to create a space for all of our members and constituents, and we’re appreciative of everyone who’s engaged with us during this challenging time. While our offices will remain closed for the time being, our entire team is available via all means of communication. We want to stay engaged with all our members and constituents, so please do not hesitate to reach out. We welcome any suggestions you might have for programs or on how our organization can help you navigate the current global crisis.

Additionally, please remember to check out our online content as well as Americas Quarterly’s website for up-to-date information and interesting articles and commentaries, including our new issue, 5 Big Ideas for a Post-COVID Latin America.

Want to be a part of the discussion? Consider becoming a corporate or individual member today.

We remain committed to all our members and constituents and look forward to working with you in these very challenging times.

Thank you so much for your patience and continued support. All of us at the Americas Society/Council of the Americas hope you and your families stay well and safe.
