AS/COA and Member Companies Convene in Panama with Government Officials

President José Raúl Mulino met with the group to discuss investment opportunities across various sectors in Panama.

Susan Segal, president of Americas Society/Council of the Americas, and executives from AS/COA member companies met this week in Panama City with senior government officials to discuss Panama's economic outlook and identify investment opportunities in areas of interest to the Panamanian government, such as technology and innovation, logistics, energy, manufacturing, and transportation.

On Tuesday, June 17, the group of senior executives and foreign and local investors, led by Segal, met with Panama Canal Administrator Ricaurte Vásquez. During the meeting, the administrator discussed future plans for the canal, focusing on how to increase its water resources and diversify its supply. Vásquez also answered questions from the business leaders.

Breakfast with President José Raúl Mulino

On Wednesday, June 18, the AS/COA delegation met with Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino for breakfast at the Palacio de las Garzas. President Mulino shared the strategies and plans of his administration, including reducing the fiscal deficit and modernizing the state, as well as infrastructure projects such as the construction of the fourth bridge over the canal and metro line three. The president also answered questions from the business leaders, who have investments or are interested in investing across sectors in Panama, including healthcare, energy, banking, and technology.

Meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Panama Kevin Marino Cabrera

U.S. Ambassador to Panama Kevin Marino Cabrera welcomed the AS/COA delegation on June 18. The ambassador highlighted the cooperation between the two countries on security issues and answered questions from the delegation.
