On September 1, Claudia Sheinbaum delivered her first informe, an annual speech to Congress where Mexico’s president outlines the accomplishments and vision of their administration.
After eleven months in office, Sheinbaum commands approval rates above 70 percent in most polls. In her informe, she spoke of her record, including her economic and security policies, her opposition to and negotiation with U.S. President Donald Trump, and her oversight of the passage and implementation of constitutional reforms. That includes the judicial reform passed in the final months of the presidency of Andrés Manuel López Obrador (2018-2024) that triggered the unprecedented nationwide judicial elections that took place on June 1. Supreme Court justices chosen in that election were sworn in on the same day as the informe.
