2016 Lima Conference – Innovation & Technology as Engines of Economic Development

The January 21 conference will examine opportunities for growth, partnerships, and public-private sector investments.

New York, January 19, 2016 – Despite Peru’s impressive economic growth in the last decade, the country lags behind in innovation and technology in the region. The political and regulatory environment for encouraging the development of information and communication technologies is one of the country's weakest areas, scoring 3 out of a possible 7 points, and below an average of 3.5 among other large Latin American economies as shown by the World Economic Forum’s Global Information Technology Report 2015. Addressing the digital divide and promoting access will bolster economic growth, competitiveness and innovation, and social inclusion.

Join Americas Society/Council of the Americas for the tenth edition of its Latin American Cities Conferences – Lima on Thursday, January 21 from 8:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the Country Club Lima Hotel. The event, entitled “Innovation & Technology as Engines of Economic Development,” will convene public- and private-sector experts to share their views on the opportunities for growth, partnerships, and investment in these fields. The conference will be webcast live
