2016 Bogotá Conference: Colombia in the Eyes of Wall Street

Public officials and financial analysts will examine the country’s macroeconomic and political outlook on June 9.

New York, June 7, 2016—Colombia’s economic performance remains solid despite the sharp drop in global oil prices. The country is growing at a slower rate than last year but still faster than many other emerging economies. Simultaneously, peace conversations are creating a chance for Colombia to put an end to its 50-year-old conflict. Structural reforms and improvements to the macroeconomic framework will be essential for supporting growth and offsetting the headwinds from external conditions.

Join Americas Society/Council of the Americas, ANIF, and Fedesarrollo for the twentieth edition of their annual Bogota conference “Colombia in the Eyes of Wall Street” on Thursday, June 9, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Top public officials and leading executives and financial analysts will examine the country’s macroeconomic and political outlook. This event will be webcast live.

Speakers at the conference include: Mauricio Cárdenas, Minister of Finance, Colombia; Alejandro Werner, Director, Western Hemisphere Department, International Monetary Fund; Luis Alarcon, Head of Global Markets, BBVA Colombia; Jorge Humberto Botero, President, Fasecolda; Fernando Bravo, Head of Andean Region Financing Group, Goldman Sachs; Sergio Clavijo, President, ANIF; Humberto de la Calle, Lead Government Negotiator for the Peace Process; Simón Gaviria, Director, National Planning Department; Munir Jalil, Director, Chief Economist for the North Andean Region, Citibank; Jaime Vargas, Partner, Ernst & Young; Leonardo Villar, Executive Director, Fedesarrollo; Kevin Whitaker, U.S. Ambassador to Colombia; Susan Segal, President and CEO, Americas Society/Council of the Americas; and Ragnhild Melzi, Vice President, Public Policy Programs and Corporate Relations, Americas Society/Council of the Americas.
