"The more we can control the supply chain on energy in the Western Hemisphere, the better position it is for America and for our allies throughout the Western Hemisphere," said Jarrod Agen, the executive director of the White House's National Energy Dominance Council. At the 56th Washington Conference on the Americas, Agen spoke with AS/COA's Kevin Sullivan about the administration's energy policy in the Western Hemisphere.

"As someone who's worked in the field for a long time, you can really see and feel the level of emphasis that the administration's putting on the Americas," noted Sullivan. Agen explained the White House's view that developing the hemispheric supply chain is critical to achieving affordable and secure energy. "We're really looking at the whole Western Hemisphere map of how we can streamline not just production, but the supply chain and the moving of trade across that entire [region]," he said. To that end, Agen spoke about his recent trip to Venezuela and U.S. efforts to bring the country's energy to markets across the Americas.

Agen also spoke about the push to see more cooperation around critical minerals. "We really need to have a broader coalition within the Americas on mining and minerals," he said.
