Video - New York: A Bridge Too Far or a Place Called Home for Latin American Arbitration?
On February 6, AS/COA hosted a panel of experienced lawyers from across the Americas to discuss Latin American arbitrations based in New York and how the city is becoming a hub for deals in the region. Why are so many arbitrations with a strong Latin American connection seated in the United States and in New York in particular? Does it save time and money? Does it make the process more reliable? What works and what can be improved in New York’s arbitration laws and practices in order to continue attracting Latin American arbitrations?
Panelists talked about these themes, the importance of knowing the laws related to arbitration when taking a deal abroad, and logistical factors influencing arbitrations today. The event was organized in partnership with the New York International Arbitration Center.
