PBS: Alana Tummino on Reforming U.S.-Cuba Policy

In December 2014, President Barack Obama announced that the United States was going to open up relations with Cuba in a number of ways. These include strenghtening telecommunications, financial ties, and allowing greater travel, said Alana Tummino, head of the Cuba Working Group at AS/COA, on the Foreign Policy Association's series Great Decisions in Foreign Policy.

"Part of our U.S. policy goal in Cuba is to be able to be more connected, to be able to communicate with the Cuban people, to allow them to communicate with the outside world. And so internet and connectivity is one of the major drivers of our policy towards Cuba," she said.
