  • Antonio Silveira, Vice President for Private Sector, CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean
  • Juan Ignacio de Lorenzo, SVP & Head of Distribution for Consumer Lines, CHUBB Latin America
  • Kiki del Valle, Division President for North Latin America, Mastercard

"The digitization of payments has really served as a catalyst for economic growth and a lot of transformation that we are seeing in our markets,” said Kiki del Valle of Mastercard. She, along with other experts in financial inclusion, spoke on a panel entitled "Financial Services Transforming Latin America’s Economic Future" held during the 2025 Council of the Americas Symposium.

From 2017 to 2021, financial inclusion increased 20 percent in the region, said del Valle, and much of that was due to digital services. Still, Juan Ignacio de Lorenzo of CHUBB noted that there is still work to be done. "We have to expand the base. There are many customers under-serviced. There are many customers outside the formal system," he said.

To do that work, Antonio Silveira spoke of how CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean is improving how it supports companies and governments in the region. He also mentioned that it is driving innovation through its annual financial inclusion laboratory contest. Annali Duarte of Bank of America said that regulation is preventing some progress, but there are productive conversations between companies and governments in the region about how to put the proper regulatory systems in place.
