Xavier Prieto serves as CAF’s country representative in Venezuela, leading the institution’s work in the country.With more than 20 years of experience in development banking and international project leadership, Prieto joined CAF—Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean—in 2008 through its Young Professionals Program. He has since held positions, including Director of Country Programs, coordinating CAF’s work across multiple countries and contributing to capitalization processes, new shareholder countries, and corporate initiatives.Before joining CAF, Prieto spent five years in France managing projects for BP Oil and INEOS at the Lavéra refinery and petrochemical complex.He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia, with specialized studies at the École Centrale de Marseille; an MBA from IE Business School; and a postgraduate degree in International Development Cooperation from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya.
