Víctor O. Bisonó Haza

Víctor (Ito) O. Bisonó Haza is a prominent political leader of the Dominican Republic who between 2002-2020 was elected on four occasions as member of the Dominican Republic’s House of Representatives for the National District. During those periods, he served as president of the Economy, Planning and Development Committee, and was also a member of the Industry and Commerce and Treasury Committees. Between 2003-2011, he was twice a member of the National Council of the Magistracy, receiving unanimous support from his colleagues in the Chamber. Prior to this, he was chief of staff at the Ministry of Infrastructure between 1987-1991, the Dominican Electricity Corporation in 1991-1994 and the Foreign Investment Promotion Council (CPI) in1994-1995. 

He has had an outstanding record of achievements, being the proponent and promoter of current legislation such as 171-07 which grants Special Incentives to Foreign Source Pensioners and Annuitants, 57-07 on the Development of Renewable Energy Sources, 392-07 on Competitiveness and Industrial Innovation, 479-08 on Commercial Companies and Individual Limited Liability Companies, 170-07 on Municipal Participative Budget, 141-15 on Restructuring and Liquidation of Companies, among others. For this trajectory, he has received awards from the Association of Industries of the Dominican Republic (AIRD) and the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAMDR), among others.

In 2007, Bisonó founded the Center for Public Policy Analysis (CAPP), a think tank focused on proposing reforms in the areas of economy, defense and politics. At the international level, he chaired the Parliamentarians for Global Action Network (PGA), which brings together legislators from around the world committed to the values of democracy, freedom and the rule of law. He is the author of four books, entitled "Las Bases de la Nación", "Visión de Nación", "Reflexiones para una Transformación en la República Dominicana" and "Mis Escritos" published in 2020.
