Sonja Wolf

Cátedra CONACYT Assistant Professor with the Drug Policy Program, Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE)

Sonja Wolf is a Cátedra CONACYT assistant professor with the drug policy program at the Center for Economic Research and Teaching (CIDE) in Mexico. She is also a visiting fellow at the Latin America and Caribbean Centre (LACC) of the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Previously, Wolf held research positions at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and the Mexico City-based Institute for Security and Democracy (INSYDE). Her research interests focus on forced migration, violence, street gangs, and security policies, especially in Central America. Wolf is the author of Mano Dura: The Politics of Gang Control in El Salvador (University of Texas Press, 2017). She holds a PhD in international politics from Aberystwyth University.
