Head of Institutional Capital Formation for the Americas Institutional Business, BlackRock

Roque Calleja, managing director, leads BlackRock's Institutional Capital Formation (ICF) for the Americas Institutional Business. Mr. Calleja is responsible for driving BlackRock’s client strategy and distribution in alternatives with clients in US, Canada and Latin America working closely with relationship managers and the broader BlackRock alternatives organization. He is a member of BlackRock's Global Human Capital Committee, America's Institutional Business (AIB) Executive Committee, and Latin America Regional Executive Committee. He is also co-chair of Latin America's Talent Development Committee (TDC) and a member of the firm's SOMOS Latinx Employee Network Executive Committee. Roque leads the Allies and Ability Network (ABN) in LatAm and is a mental health ambassador.

Prior to his current role, Mr. Calleja served as head of the Alternatives Business for Latin America for 5 years, where he positioned BlackRock as one of the leading alternatives investment managers in the region. Prior to that role, he was Head of the Institutional Client Business (ICB) and Alternatives Distribution in Mexico from 2014 to 2019. Mr. Calleja joined BlackRock in 2009 as a member of BlackRock's iShares business in Iberia, and relocated to New York in 2012, where he led BlackRock's Latin America Offshore Wealth business, focusing on home office coverage and alternatives distribution. During his 15+ year tenure at BlackRock, Roque has led teams in different markets, client segments, and products solutions to build businesses centered around long-term growth opportunities.
