Rodrigo Pacheco
Rodrigo Pacheco is the president of the Federal Senate and the National Congress for the 2023-25 term, after holding these positions in the 2021-23 term. In 2018, he was elected to the Federal Senate, representing the State of Minas Gerais, with 3,616,864 votes. He was the leader of the Democratas party in the Senate for the 2019-20 term, and president of that party in the State of Minas Gerais. In 2014, he was elected Federal Deputy, when he chaired the Constitutional and Justice Committee (CCJ) of the Chamber of Deputies, the first time a newly elected deputy held said position. He is currently affiliated with the Social Democratic Party, representing the State of Minas Gerais.
Pacheco graduated from Law School at PUC Minas, with a specialization degree in Criminal Law. He was the youngest member of the Federal Board of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), from 2013 to 2015. In the Bar Association, he chaired the National Commission to Support Early Career Attorneys, and member of the chapter in the State of Minas Gerais, and former chairman of the Attorney’s Defense, Support and Prerogative Commission. He was a member of the Board of Criminology and Criminal Policy of the State of Minas Gerais. Rodrigo Pacheco é presidente do Senado Federal e do Congresso Nacional para o mandato 2023-25, depois de ter ocupado esses cargos no mandato 2021-23. Em 2018, foi eleito para o Senado Federal, representando o Estado de Minas Gerais, com 3.616.864 votos. Foi líder do Partido Democratas no Senado para o mandato 2019-20, e presidente desse partido no Estado de Minas Gerais. Em 2014, foi eleito deputado federal, quando presidiu a Comissão de Constituição e Justiça (CCJ) da Câmara dos Deputados, a primeira vez que um deputado recém-eleito ocupou tal cargo. Atualmente está filiado ao Partido Social Democrático, representando o Estado de Minas Gerais. Pacheco é formado pela Faculdade de Direito da PUC Minas, com especialização em Direito Penal. Foi o membro mais jovem do Conselho Federal da Ordem dos Advogados do Brasil (OAB), de 2013 a 2015. Na Ordem dos Advogados, presidiu a Comissão Nacional de Apoio aos Advogados em Início de Carreira, membro da seccional mineira e ex-presidente da a Comissão de Defesa, Apoio e Prerrogativas do Advogado. Foi membro do Conselho de Criminologia e Política Criminal do Estado de Minas Gerais. Ele sempre lutou para melhorar o sistema jurídico nacional e reforço da educação, saúde, segurança e criação de emprego.
