Ricardo Gandour

Editor-in-Chief, Estado de São Paulo

Ricardo Gandour is the chief of content at Estado Group, which includes print, digital and radio platforms, and the editor-in-chief of O Estado de S.Paulo. From 2002 to 2006 he was the executive director and editor for the Diário de S.Paulo while it was under Globo’s leadership. At Editora Globo, he managed book/print publications and the weekly magazine Época. After having worked as an engineer and then as a business consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, he moved to Folha de S.Paulo where he worked as a reporter, editor, senior-editor, deputy director, and also as founding-director of PubliFolha, a publishing house. Gandour was a professor of Journalism at Universidade de São Paulo and at the Faculdade Cásper Líbero. He is currently the Editorial Committee director of the Brazilian Association of Newspapers (ANJ), member of the Latin American board of the World Association of News Publishers and member of the board of the Instituto Palavra Aberta. Gandour holds a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the Faculdade Cásper Líbero and in Civil Engineering from USP-São Carlos. He also attended specialized programs in Business Administration at the Fundação Getúlio Vargas, in Publishing at Stanford University, and in Advanced Management at INSEAD.
