U.S. Ambassador to Argentina

Peter Lamelas, MD, MBA was nominated by President Donald J. Trump to serve as the 53rd U.S. Ambassador to the Argentine Republic on March 24, 2025, and confirmed by the U.S. Senate on September 18, 2025. Ambassador Lamelas is a physician and entrepreneur whose career has spanned healthcare, business, and public service.

As founder and former CEO of MD Now Urgent Care, Ambassador Lamelas built the largest urgent healthcare company in Florida by delivering quality, cost-effective medical services to millions of patients and employing thousands of medical professionals. He was twice elected to the Urgent Care Association Board of Directors and has led diverse teams as a hospital emergency and EMS medical director.

Ambassador Lamelas has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service. During the first Trump administration, he served on the Department of Justice’s Public Safety Medal of Valor Review Board, which honors the bravery of America’s first responders. At the local level, Ambassador Lamelas served as Town Commissioner for Manalapan, Florida.

At a young age, Ambassador Lamelas fled Cuba with his family to the United States seeking freedom. He worked alongside his family in their small businesses to achieve the American dream. He and his wife, Stephanie, love adventure and hiking. They are also dedicated philanthropists supporting numerous charities.
