Maria Paula Carvajal is a managing director at Citigroup and head of Latin America for Sovereign Credit Management within In-Business Country Risk Management. She previously led the Sovereign and Economic Risk Group for Latin America at Goldman Sachs and was a sovereign risk associate at Moody’s Investors Service. An economist with nearly 20 years of experience in emerging markets and sovereign risk, she has a strong track record of anticipating crises, assessing policy impacts, and developing tools to mitigate risks and uncover opportunities.

Carvajal holds an MPA from Columbia University and both Master’s and B.S. degrees in economics from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia.
