Marcelo Kfoury Muinhos is the head of the economic research department of Citi Brazil. Based out of São Paulo, he also contributes to the Citi Research team with the coverage of economic and political developments in Brazil. Prior to that, Kfoury Muinhos had been at Central Bank for 13 years, where in the last three and half years he was the head of the Economic Research Department. His team was responsible for the coordination of economic research in the three regional branches of the department in Brasilia, São Paulo, and Rio de Janeiro, as well as the presentation of inflation models to the Monetary Policy Committee (Copom). Kfoury Muinhos holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais and a PhD in economics from Cornell University.
