Luis Oganes

Head of EM Local Markets Strategy and Latin America Research, JP Morgan

Luis Oganes is Head of EM Local Markets Strategy and Latin America Research at J. P. Morgan where he started working in September 1997. He drives the flagship publications of the Emerging Markets Research group; manages the strategy teams in charge of identifying investment opportunities in currencies and local bond markets in Emerging Asia, EMEA EM, and Latin America; and leads the Latin America economic research team. On several occasions, Mr. Oganes has left his country coverage duties temporarily to participate in advisory projects with governments and quasi-sovereign entities in Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia. His previous professional engagements include a teaching position within the Department of Economics of New York University (1993-1997), researcher at the Operations Evaluation Department of the World Bank (1994), and economic analyst at Grupo Apoyo, an economic think-tank in Lima, Peru (1989-1992). Mr. Oganes obtained his Ph.D. in Economics from New York University in 1998 and his Bachelor's degree in Economics from Universidad de Lima in 1990.
