Former Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Int. Trade, National Economic Council  

Kate Kalutkiewicz, senior managing director at McLarty Associates, leads the firm’s trade practice and contributes to the Europe practice and McLarty Inbound. She has more than two decades of experience managing complex global trade, industrial, and investment policy challenges across government and the private sector, with particular expertise in Europe and South America.

Most recently, Kate served as Head of U.S. Trade Policy at Amazon, where she led advocacy efforts on international trade and economic policy issues spanning retail, creative content production and distribution, cloud services, sustainable fleet, autos, and hardline manufacturing.

Previously, she served as special assistant to the president and senior director for International Trade at the White House National Economic Council, where she developed and led U.S. trade policy initiatives, including overseeing the U.S. G7 Presidency and coordinating interagency efforts on supply chain resiliency and economic support during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Kate also held several senior positions at the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), including senior trade representative to the European Union (2016–2020), where she served as the primary interlocutor with the European Commission and Member State trade authorities. Earlier, she served as director for European Affairs (2011–2016) and associate chief negotiator for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations, as well as Director for Brazil and the Southern Cone (2007–2011), managing U.S. trade policy with Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Paraguay.

Before joining USTR, Kate was a legislative assistant in the office of Senator James Talent (R-MO), advising on trade, foreign policy, homeland security, immigration, and judiciary matters.
