Julio José Prado is an economist with 15 years of experience in project development, research and teaching, on issues of competitiveness, production and value chains, and productivity.

Before being Minister of Production, Foreign Trade, Investments and Fisheries of Ecuador, he was executive president of the Association of Private Banks of Ecuador ASOBANCA (December 2015-May 2021), where he led a process of digital transformation of the sector.

He has a PhD in Management with a focus on industrial competitiveness from Lancaster University, UK, and an MBA, IDE Business School (2006). He is a B.A. in business administration from Universidad de las Americas (2004), a graduate in International Commerce from Universidad de las Americas (2002) and a B.A. in Economics from the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (2002).
