Jazmin de la Vega
Jazmin de la Vega serves as Guatemala’s Minister of Communications, Infrastructure, and Housing. Minister de la Vega has had a long career as a government official. She was first elected as a Deputy to the Guatemalan senate in 1996, where she served on behalf of the Partido de Avanzada Nacional. She left her post in the Senate in 1998 to become the Housing Coordinator at the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing.
Under President Oscar Berger, De la Vega was appointed Chief Administrator of Guatemala’s Electrical Company by the President himself. After briefly serving as the Chief Administrator there, the President reassigned her to be the Director General of the Building Construction Unit of Guatemala.
Minister de la Vega has also had an extensive career in Guatemala’s private sector. Following her resignation as the Director General of the Building Construction Unit of Guatemala, she joined the Guatemalan Chamber of Construction. She also served as a Board Member of CACIF Mujer and sat on the Coordinating Committee of Agricultural, Commercial, Industrial, and Financial Associations.
Minister de la Vega has an Architecture Degree, Master’s Degrees in Evaluation, Control, and Environmental law, and one in Environmental Law. She has a Post-Graduate Degree in Construction Costing and Budgeting. She studied at Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala.
Jazmín de la Vega es la ministra de Comunicaciones, Infraestructura y Vivienda de Guatemala. De la Vega ha tenido una larga carrera como funcionaria del gobierno. Fue elegida por primera vez como diputada por el partido Avanzada Nacional en 1996. Dejó ese cargo en 1998 para convertirse en la coordinadora de vivienda en el Ministerio de Comunicaciones, Infraestructura y Vivienda.
De la Vega fue nombrada por el presidente Oscar Berger como la Gerente de Servicios Administrativos en la Empresa Eléctrica de Guatemala. Después de desempeñarse brevemente como Administradora Principal allí, el presidente la reasignó como Directora General de la Unidad de Construcción de Edificios de Guatemala.
La ministra de la Vega también ha tenido una extensa carrera en el sector privado de Guatemala. Después de renunciar a su cargo como Directora General de la Unidad de Construcción de Edificios de Guatemala, se incorporó a la Cámara Guatemalteca de la Construcción. También se desempeñó como Miembro de la Junta Directiva de CACIF Mujer y formó parte del Comité Coordinador de Asociaciones Agrícolas, Comerciales, Industriales y Financieras.
La ministra de la Vega es arquitecta y tiene una Maestría en Evaluación, Control y Derecho Ambiental, y otra en Derecho Ambiental. Tiene también un Posgrado en Costos y Presupuestos de Construcción.
