Francisco Gil Díaz is the president of Telefónica-México. Before becoming president in 2007, Mr. Gil Díaz served as the secretary of finance under President Vicente Fox. Previously, he worked as CEO of Avantel as well as as undersecretary of finance and then as a member of the Board of Governors of the Mexican Central Bank and the IMF’s managing director. He has also taught at ITAM – Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, which conferred him the distinction of Professor Emeritus and a Doctorate Honoris Causa. In addition, Mr. Gil Díaz is a member of a number of boards, including Universidad Iberoamericana, the Center of Research for Development in Mexico (CIDAC), Bancomer, the Mexican Stock Exchange. He holds a BA from ITAM and an MA and PhD from the University of Chicago.
