Eric Parrado is managing director for Central America, Mexico, Panama, Dominican Republic and Haiti at IDB Invest; where he leads strategy and operations in this region with his strong track record in financial management and economic development.

Prior to joining IDB Invest, he was Chief Economist and Manager of the Research Department of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) from 2019 to April 2025. Previously, he was a professor of economics and finance at the ESE Business School of the Universidad de los Andes in Santiago, Chile. Mr. Parrado is a visiting professor at the University of Oxford and ETH Zurich, and co-chair of the "World Economic Forum's Global Future Council on Frontier Risks". From 2014 to 2018 he was Superintendent of Banks and Financial Institutions of Chile. In this position, Mr. Parrado promoted reforms such as the modernization of banking legislation and the creation of new instruments for financial inclusion.

Mr. Parrado is a commercial engineer from the University of Chile and holds a master's degree and a doctorate in economics from New York University.
