By means of Decree No. 3-26, issued by President Luis Abinader, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón was appointed minister of industry, commerce and MSMEs, where he is responsible for promoting productive development, trade, national industry, and the strengthening of the MSME sector as pillars of the country’s economic growth.

He holds a law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), as well as doctorates in Private International Law from the Institute of Political Studies of Paris and in Civil Law from Panthéon-Assas University. His academic training and professional career have been oriented toward public law, commerce, and institutional management.

In the diplomatic field, he was appointed in 2000 as secretary of the diplomatic legation of the Dominican Republic to the French Republic. In 2003, he received the National Youth Award in the Professional Leadership category, in recognition of his public profile and commitment to public service.

From August 2020 until his recent ministerial appointment, he served as director general of customs, leading a period of institutional modernization, strengthening of border controls, and improvement of trade facilitation processes. During that period, he left his position as managing partner of the law firm Staff Legal to devote himself exclusively to public service. At the same time, he has developed distinguished academic work as a professor of Civil Law at PUCMM, UNIBE, APEC, and UASD.
