Darío Herrera's academic training in finance and real estate marketing has allowed him to become a leader in the Montecristi Golf Resort & Villas project, which from December 2012 to April 2021 generated more than 1,000 direct and indirect sources of employment. He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Universidad San Francisco de Quito.

He has participated in real estate, hotel and forestry projects in the United States, Belize, and Ecuador. In addition, he has worked in the beverage and commerce industry, introducing important international brands to Ecuador under the franchise modality, with seven bottling plants.

In the public sector he was Minister of Urban Development and Housing (May 25, 2021 to July 4, 2022).
