Charles Seville

Senior Director and Co-head, Americas Sovereign Ratings, Fitch Ratings

Charles Seville is the cohead of the New York-based Americas Sovereign team, and lead analyst on the United States and Mexico. He is also responsible for sovereign ratings and analysis across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean. Charles joined Fitch in 2006, with responsibility for the analysis of credits in the Middle East and Africa. Charles then moved on to cover sovereign risk in Emerging Europe and was Fitch’s lead analyst for Russia and the Ukraine.
Before joining Fitch Ratings in 2006, he spent five years as a Latin America analyst at the Economist Intelligence Unit, and occasional contributor to the Economist newspaper. Prior to that, he worked as a financial journalist and analyst covering emerging markets. He graduated with a bachelor's of economics in government from the London School of Economics and Political Science, before going on to gain an master's in Philosophy in Latin American Studies from Cambridge University, and a master's degree in economics from Bocconi University in Milan. He speaks fluent Spanish.
