Carlos Capistran is managing director and Head of Latin America and Canada Economics Research at BofA Securities, which he joined in 2011 as chief Mexico economist. He has been ranked the #1 Latin America and Mexico economist in the Institutional Investor survey, and under his leadership the LatAm team has also held the #1 ranking. Previously, he was director of macroeconomic analysis at the Central Bank of Mexico and an economist at Mexico’s Ministry of Finance. He holds a BA in Economics from ITAM and a PhD in Economics from UC San Diego. Dr. Capistran has taught economics at the undergraduate and graduate levels, published in academic journals, and is frequently cited in leading media outlets. He is based in New York.
