Mr. Kuterdem's experience in diverse industries and international markets positions him to lead the historic transformation that PMI is currently undergoing in Latin America and Canada. Globally, PMI is the only tobacco company to announce that it intends to phase out cigarettes and strives for a smoke-free future. Until now, PMI has invested $16 billion in research, technological development, and commercialization of smoke-free products with a potential of reduced risk compared to continued cigarette smoking. Such products, while not risk-free, represent a better choice for adults who continue to smoke, as they can reduce the harm caused by smoking.
