Azucena Arbeleche
Azucena Arbeleche is the minister of economy and finances of Uruguay. Currently, as the minister of economy and finances, she is combatting the economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in Uruguay. In 2001, she joined the macroeconomic advisory of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and later began to work in the recently created management and debt control unit of Uruguay’s Ministry of Economy which she directed between 2011 and 2014. She has held teaching positions at the University of the Republic, the University of Montevideo (Uruguay), the Pontifical Catholic University, the Andrés Bello University (Chile), and in the University of San Carlos (Paraguay).
She has a bachelor's degree in economics and received her master’s in applied economics.
Azucena Arbeleche es la ministra de economía y finanzas de Uruguay. Actualmente, como ministra de economía y de finanzas, está coordinando la crisis económica causada por la pandemia del COVID-19. En 2001 ingresó a la asesoría macroeconómica del Ministerio de Economía y Finanzas; para luego, comenzar a trabajar en la recién creada unidad de gestión y de deuda del Ministerio de Economía y de Finanzas de Uruguay que dirigió entre los años 2011 y 2014. Ha sido docente de UdelaR, de la Universidad Católica y Universidad de Montevideo (Uruguay); en la Pontificia Universidad Católica, en la Universidad Andrés Bello (Chile), y en la Universidad San Carlos (Paraguay).
Está licenciada en economía y recibió su maestría en economía aplicada.
