Overview

Council of the Americas will hold a conversation with the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Bolivia, Bruce Williamson.

Bolivia typically flies under the radar in Washington policy circles, but is at the vanguard of important regional issues. Elections slated for 2019 could give President Evo Morales a controversial fourth consecutive term in office. As voters in Latin America increasingly demand transparency and accountability from their governments, at what cost will Bolivia’s current government maintain its grip on the status quo? And as a large, centrally-located, and resource-rich country, are there avenues to more competitively integrate Bolivia’s mining, energy, and agricultural wealth into global commerce?

Please join this important meeting with the top U.S. diplomat in Bolivia to discuss these and other key hemispheric issues.
