Overview

On July 1, in Mexico's largest election in history, Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) won 53 percent of the vote. His landslide victory will have a widespread impact on Mexico's political landscape as it gives him a clear mandate and a majority in both chambers to enact his agenda. Throughout his campaign, he promised to transform the country, pledging to eradicate corruption, reduce violence and insecurity, promote economic development and tackle inequality. What does he need to deliver on his promises? What will his cabinet look like? How will the new administration engage with Washington? Will AMLO strengthen or dilute Mexico's contemporary economic and political agenda? Join us for a discussion that seeks to address these topics at a turning point in Mexico's history.
